Chef Matt Wahl, an Indianapolis native, began his culinary career as a dishwasher at a local country club. Over the years, he has seamlessly transitioned through various kitchen roles, building a versatile and well-rounded skill set. Matt dedicated a substantial portion of his career to Sullivan's Steakhouse, where he worked for over 20 years, with a notable stint at Bravo from 2014 to 2016.

In 2023, Chef Matt joined Huse Culinary as Executive Chef at The HC Tavern + Kitchen, where he quickly earned the admiration and respect of the kitchen team. In 2025, he took the next step in his career, moving into the role of Executive Chef at St. Elmo Steak House, bringing his leadership, experience, and passion for excellence to one of Indianapolis’ most iconic dining destinations.

Passionate about the culinary world, Chef Matt says what resonates with him most is the camaraderie formed with his colleagues. Having encountered a wide range of personalities throughout his career, he values the unique lessons learned from each experience.

Outside of the kitchen, Chef Matt enjoys spending quality time with his family and attending a variety of concerts throughout the year
